Open a till, record every movement, hand it to the next operator mid-service, and close it with a counted Z-report and an approval.
SEE IT IN ACTION
A hand-over changes who holds the drawer without closing it — so a shift change never blocks service.
OVERVIEW AND BENEFITS
Cash is only safe when it is bounded
No cash tender is accepted without an open session. Every drop, payout, float adjustment and collection is typed and attributed, so the close is arithmetic rather than archaeology.
Close with approval
Closing is a request a manager approves or sends back for a recount, not a button that ends the argument.
Hand over without closing
The outgoing operator counts, any variance is attributed to them, and the next operator starts clean.
Reports that reconcile
Mid-shift X-report, end-of-session Z-report and a full final report with PDF and Excel export.
WHY IT MATTERS
A shortfall found at 11pm belongs to whoever is standing there
Without a hand-over, a variance from the morning shift surfaces against whoever happens to close the drawer — the wrong person, hours later, with no way to attribute it.

A hand-over is not a close
They are different verbs. A close ends the drawer for the day and blocks on open bills; a hand-over just changes hands.
Open bills do not block:that is the whole point — a mid-service shift change cannot wait for the dining room to empty.
Variance is neutralised immediately:the shortfall is attributed to the outgoing operator and cleared from the session.
Approval is at the terminal:a manager enters a PIN while the count can still be re-observed.

FAQ
FAQ
Yes. A hand-over records a physical count, attributes any variance permanently to the outgoing operator, neutralises it in the session, and hands the still-open drawer to the next person.
No, and deliberately. Open folios block a close, because the day is not reconciled until every bill is settled — but a mid-service hand-over cannot wait for the dining room to empty.
A manager holding the close-approval permission. Closing is a request that can also be rejected, sending the drawer back for a recount rather than forcing a figure through.
An owner can amend a closed session’s stored inputs — opening float, counted cash, a missing or duplicated movement — with a mandatory reason. Every derived total is recomputed from the ledger and the Z-report is regenerated.
