Out of order, out of service, and the revenue difference

One of these takes a room off sale. The other does not. Getting the distinction wrong quietly costs you nights.

Properties routinely conflate "this room has a problem" with "this room cannot earn". They are different decisions with different costs, and a system that offers only one flag forces operators to over-use it.

In Vestibel the revenue-blocked set is defined in exactly one place, and every surface that asks whether a room can be sold reads that definition rather than restating it. When the same predicate was re-derived by hand across a codebase, two copies had already drifted — and a room under maintenance was still being advertised publicly as bookable.

A maintenance ticket deliberately does not take a room off sale. A dripping tap does not stop a room being let, and coupling the two would let any member of staff withdraw revenue-earning inventory by raising a ticket. Taking a room out of order stays a manual decision, made by someone accountable for it.
